*Day of Silence Sunday, October 23rd 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

This course focuses on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), an evidence-based curriculum developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD in the late 70s at the University of Massachusetts.  It has become the leading curriculum for teaching secular mindfulness practice and is now taught in over 750 health centers around the world.

This course offering for therapists will follow the traditional curriculum, meeting for 2 hours once a week for 8 weeks, with a 5-hour Day of Silence on the Saturday following Class #6.

Participants will learn the formal and informal mindfulness practices and will be supported in developing a home practice.

This course may benefit participants in multiple areas, including: reduced stress and increased well-being; improved balance between work and personal life; better communication with patients and others. Familiarity with the practice of mindfulness allows therapists to determine suitability of mindfulness practices and programs for clients and ways to teach the practices in a skillful manner.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be given a certificate of attendance and be eligible to embark on MBSR teacher training if they desire. In order to qualify for a certificate of attendance, participants must complete at least 6 of the weekly sessions in addition to the Day of Silence.

Class size will be limited -REGISTER HERE

All classes will take place on ZOOM. The link will be sent after registration.

All participants will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire (sent by Mickie after initial contact) that will help to determine whether this course will serve your needs and expectations.

In order to qualify for CE credits (16) for SW, participants must attend all of the weekly 2-hour sessions.

This course is appropriate for: clinical professionals, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social workers.
