Conquer Suicide

Stephen Wakschal, PhD is the Senior Psychologist at Northwell's
Finest Care Program which provides short term counseling for members of the
NYPD. Dr. Wakschal is also a certified grief specialist and a founding
member of the New York State Critical Incident Response Team. He is a New
York State Trooper PBA Surgeon, as well as the mental health director of
NYPD CrossFit. Dr. Wakschal is the author of the ConQueR(c) Suicide
Awareness and Intervention program for law enforcement professionals.



This seminar will address suicide awareness and intervention within the law
enforcement community, as well as the general population. We will examine
the risk factors, early indicators and warning signs of suicide. This
seminar will be interactive, and we encourage participants to express their
experiences with suicide. 

OBJECTIVES

At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1) Participants will name statistical risk factors associated with
professional law enforcement compared to the general population.

2) Participants will learn both the common and more subtle suicide early
indicators or warning signs of suicide.

3) Participants will be able to state risk factors that increase suicide and
discuss failures that result in suicide.

6/14/23-6/14/26. Social Workers completing this course receive 4 continuing
education credits.
