In this ONLINE, INTERACTIVE Webinar, explore the importance of bringing your authentic self to the clinical dyad as a way to disarm potential clients' overzealous defense mechanisms and create a space of safety and trust.

This presentation is appropriate for: clinical professionals, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social works.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the day’s presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish the therapeutic goals of early trauma treatment from those of later-stage treatment

  • Understand how attachment trauma impacts the ability to form lasting intimate relationships

  • Name 3 modalities that support the therapists use of ‘self’ in treatment

  • Understand counter transference, strategic sharing, and self-disclosure

PROVIDER BIO:

Jumana Grassi, LCSW is a psychotherapist with a private practice in New York City and Fairfield, CT. Her clinical experience includes a position as the Director of a Substance Abuse Prevention Program at Phoenix House where she oversaw programming and facilitated relapse prevention and process groups in the OASAS outpatient program, both with adolescents and adults.

Jumana earned her master's degree from Hunter College School of Social Work. She holds a New York State Social Worker License (LCSW), a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), and a Certificate in Student Field Instruction (SIFI). From 2015-2019 she was an active committee member of the Women's Association for Addiction Treatment, and from 2015-2016, she served as Co-Chairperson of the New York State Providers Liaison Association.

SOCIAL WORK: Jumana Grassi LCSW NY# 0556 is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the New York State Education Department State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers.

ACE: Jumana Grassi, LCSW, #1721, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Jumana Grassi, LCSW maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 06/14/2019 – 06/14/2020. Social workers participating in this course will receive 1 continuing education credit.
